My career as a Physiotherapist began in Gujarat, India, where I completed my four-year Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy. I gained valuable experience working with orthopaedic cases, ICU patients, and neuro conditions affecting both adults and children. One of my proudest moments was receiving an award at several multi-state conferences for my work with an oral strengthening device for patients suffering from dysphagia. This achievement motivated me to further develop my expertise, leading me to Canada in August 2021, where I sought new opportunities for growth both personally and professionally.
At Georgian College, I took the Fitness and Health Promotion course, which contributed greatly to my current role. I am particularly passionate about pelvic health and rehabilitation, an area that I am enjoying immensely. Outside of work, I like playing pool, exploring new places, and sampling a variety of cuisines. During the summer months, nothing beats relaxing on the beach.

Tina Barnes is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy. After working as a support worker for the differently abled since 2000, Tina learned about how much diversity there is into what ‘health care’ means. The health of the community, the family and the individual themselves. How different it looks from one person to the next and the needs they have reflect that. There is no one cookie cutter way to approach people’s needs from physical, nutritional, spiritual, emotional, psychological…etc…
This led Tina into practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture and then, Osteopathy. Both similar in their philosophies, Osteopathy was a perfect extension to her skill set and multi-faceted way to view and treat the human body.
Osteopathy is a manual therapy that is based on the principle that structure and function are intimately related. If your structure is off (twisted, bent etc.) then the flow of our vital fluids and forces (nerve, artery, vein and lymph) can’t flow to their destinations and without them, our organs and tissues can’t function optimally. So, we restore the structure so the body can return to its optimal function
No two treatments will look the same as the body changes and no two people are alike. Bringing together all of her training, treatments are always individualized and unique.
What does a treatment session involve?
There will be an intake and informed consent process, the initial visit will be longer.
We observe how you move and hold statically, then have you lie in various positions, and assess the quality of joints and tissues by moving you around.
Based on what is most restricted and how the patterns tie into each other, the treatment will free the function of the collective unit.
Treatment will be gentle, with rhythm and there should never be pain, so if something is uncomfortable let the practitioner know so positioning can be adjusted.
After treatment, side effects vary from person to person and treatment to treatment. What people can handle varies. Treatment will be adjusted in the following sessions as per the outcome.
Lots of water and limiting strenuous work after treatment are recommended.
